Bonus Deprecation allows an additional fifty percent deduction on new equipment only for any amounts spent over the $500,000 threshold. Pallet Rack 101

When opening a new warehouse many owners feel limited by the space they have. In a fast paced work environment the accessibility to your product is limited greatly by the space provided. In order to open up the work space, warehouse racking is used to stack pallets of products vertically and horizontally. The many advantages pallet rack systems provide are utilization of space, safety, durability, accessibility, and convenience. Grant Money For a New Forklift?!?

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is currently offering financial incentives to businesses to replace their internal combustion forklifts with ultra-low emissions fueled by propane gas.

Shoppa’s Material Handling is a Texas Railroad Commission approved Alternative Fuel Certified dealer. We can assist with the Forklift Grant Initiative application process. Funded by the Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP) through the TCEQ, the grant program will produce significant air-quality benefits. The Texas Rail Road Commission, with a long history in working with the oil and gas industry, is once again responsible for coordinating the program and approving the grant awards.

Do I need a Electric, Diesel, CNG, or Gas Forklift?

Diesel, LPG, CNG or Electric can be a tough question for many warehouse managers. Forklifts have been around for almost 100 years. Over that time they have undergone many improvements, and with this constant progression lifts can be used on almost any landscape to perform many tasks. Today the basic fundamental rule of a forklift has not changed, ‘move something from point A to point B’. There are many characteristics that divide different types of lifts, but perhaps the most apparent would be the fuel type. There are two types of motors used in forklifts, internal combustion (gas, propane, diesel, compressed natural gas) and electric. When selecting a forklift knowing exactly what it will be used for, and where, will dictate what fuel type is needed.

Lets Talk Forklift Safety

For Fourteen yeas the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has required that every forklift in operation be inspected for optimum safety. Also anyone who operates a forklift must have suitable training for that specific type of lift. This could seem a bit excessive due to the constant rotation of employees and machinery, but take a moment to consider the possible costs. There are over 90,000 forklift related injuries every year in the United States. How many of these accidents do you believe could have been avoided with proper training and inspected equipment? Not only that, but how much is wasted every year on damaged forklifts and lost product?

For a company to optimize safety they must take into consideration these points:

  1. Those who operate machinery must have proper training.
  2. Forklifts must be inspected regularly to ensure optimum safety.
  3. Workspace must be clean and organized.
  4. Damaged equipment must be red flagged until deemed safe.
  5. Unsafe operators must be confronted.
  6. Management must keep track of equipment use.
